Now, Maria despite how her soon-to-be husband felt, was not all nice and innocent..
She had of
course, kept his illusions up, remaining faithful and loving to
him despite his own misguided ways. But that was soon to
change.
The night of her
bacherlotte party, she invited the girls down to the beach, to tan
and ogle the hot men, then to have a night out on the town.
Of course, that
group included her best friend Julien Poirot as well as Katarina
Stewart and Gwen Cresswell, the new girl in town.
The day had
started out great, sunbathing and swimming. Julien sitting
behind them under the umbrella, sulking. He wasn't much for
sun, or fun in general.
It wasn't long though before they packed up and headed back to Katarina's to change for the night. Julien tagging along.
The four piled
into Katarina's room and the girls began to strip in front of poor
Julien who had taken a seat ont he edge of the bed, his pale white
skin quickly tinting pink as he tried to keep his eyes looking up at
the ceiling and not on the bare flesh in front of him.
The three girls
giggled and day though the closet and dresser, trying on clothes
left and right, tossing them back and forth, shaking heads.
But Julien,
despite the angel blood that ran through his veins, so did demon and
he couldn't help but take peeks at the bare skin of his soon-to-be
married best friend.
The curse of a
fairy, born of a demon and angel, so unlike the rest of his kind,
innately good, though lord forbid he follow the nature of his kind,
an outcast, that's what he was. Otherwise, he'd be taking full
advantage of the opportunity presented before him.
Cursed by fate,
a low chuckle escaped.
"What's wrong, Julien?"
Marie gently touched his shoulder, startling him.
He looked up at her and found it hard not to stare, having to force himself to look only in her pale pink eyes.
"Nothing's wrong, just brooding." He forced a smile, the best he could do with the thoughts running through his head.
She gently cupped his check, a sad smile on her face. "Alright." She let her hand fall, rejoining the activities.
It
was late, the sun long since gone. The club was full,
the lights dim, the air hot and filled with the smell
of sweat and testosterone.
The
four danced in the middle of the crowd, bumping bodies
and swaying with the beat. All with drinks in their
hands. Marie had had the most by far, finding it
difficult to remain on her feet.
She
stumbled into Julian, laughing. He took a step back,
bracing himself and wrapping his arms around her.
Their
eyes were connected and for a brief moment, the world
fell away. She leaned up and their lips met and it was
like fireworks went off in his head.
A
brief, fleeting moment of paradise before she pulled
away laughing and went back to dancing and left him
stunned.
