Meeting her destiny

Marie Sang and her Egyptain Mau, Bast, had been thick as thieves their whole lives, sticking together no matter how hard the system tried to pull them apart. Finally, on that glorious day, she turned 18 and Marie was out of that house like the hounds of hell were on her heels.

Her and Bast picked up their few things and we're out of that town by dinner. Hitchhiking their way as far as they could go.

They were finally free and they weren't going to waste a single minute of it.

So that's what they did. They traveled, hopping from one place to the next, seeing everything the world had to offer, only settling for a time when they were low on funds and had to recuperate.

At one point they happened upon a little town; bright, sunny, and welcome. And she thought about staying. But in the end, it just wasn't right for her. Although she vowed that she'd be back as they left that day on the train.

One day, they passed through a town called Midnight Hollow, a strange and wondrous place that caught her eye. Despite her affinity for bright colors, especially pink, she fell in love with the dark modeling of the town; the blacks, browns, greys and reds.

And that was where she fell in love, that was where she thought she found her happily ever after.

Her and Bast moved in, living off the money she made from her paintings and sculptures. Happy that they had found a place where they weren't judged for her mystical abilities or green skin and pink hair.

They wandered the town, greeting all those they passed, all different and unique just like them. They passed the Renaissance faire every day, located right by the bookstore that both cat and girl loved to visit. And one day, Bast had wandered off on her own so Marie went to the faire, curious and inspired.

That's where she met him, her Prince Charming.

Phineas Bledsoe.

They immediately hit it off, and she thought that they'd finally found their happily ever after. Her and Bast finally. No more wandering the world looking for something that doesn't exist. But it did, and she knew that. Because she'd just found it...

She spent days and weeks going around with rose tinted glasses on. Spending all her spare time with Phineas.

So much so that she hadn't noticed the new cat wandering around her humble abode or the way all of Bast' attention was caught up elsewhere as well.

She was spending all her nights holed up with Phineas at his big mansion on the other side of town, happy and tired. But she liked it that way.

They spent all their nights up tossing and turning in bed, losing the covers and pillows somewhere through the night but not truly caring.

She loved him and was happy to have given herself to him, to have him be her first and only, and she knew he would be.

Until one day, he refused to talk to her. He wouldn't answer her calls or texts, wouldn't let her in the door, nothing.
So she ran, she packed up a bag and left, back to that perfect little city; her, Bast, and Merlin.
